Bookmarks

I've had Opera for close to a decade, so I have gazillions of bookmarks. I've started to do a cleanup of my bookmarks, and organize them better, etc. My problem is I have no idea how to access the bookmark one, the bookmarks that appear when you click on the button Bookmarks at the top in the menu. Sure, I can save bookmarks there but I cannot access them in the bookmarks manager at all, so I cannot either delete them or move them someplace else. I made the mistake to use Opera Link once, which screwed up my Opera, made me lose some bookmarks and messed up many of my bookmarks which ended up there.
So I'd be really grateful if anyone could tell me how to access the folder Bookmarks, so I can do a cleanup of my bookmarks in it. Thanks!!!
I 'm still on version 12.16 by the way.

I am not sure that I understand your post, but it seems that you're having problems with the Bookmarks Manager in Split view, finding it difficult to access bookmarks in the root folder. Try Full View from the View button, or Ctrl + Click to deselect the current folder in Split View.

Can you access your bookmarks folder in the side panels? (F4)?
You can adjust, move and delete (sub)folders and bookmarks from there.

I added a Bookmarks button on my bar years ago. and was accessing my bookmarks that way. I cannot access the bookmarks folder that way though. I've never used F4 but when I do I can finally access the bookmarks folder.
Thanks!!!

Thought i'd move away from Firefox due to it's issues with displaying custom fonts that everyone is experiencing. Heard Opera was good.

Don't really care what your browser preference is. Educate yourself before installing something.

Cracked me up too when they came out with Opera 15 and no bookmark support. The ridiculous contention was that speed dial would replace bookmarks. Speed dial is OK for less than 50 heavily accessed sites you constantly access. More than that its too cumbersome. Its also a pain when you're in a page because you have to go back to the home page which has the speed dial in order to access it.
They do have bookmarks now, starting with Opera 17. But this important and really needed "feature" is somewhat hidden. Doing a search on this site shows how to use the bookmark bar (AKA Quick Access Bar).

There is an answer... Download Opera 19 Developer then under the 'More tools' drop down menu synchronize your previous bookmarks bar into Opera. It takes a while, but it's worth it.
One annoying fault that you will notice is that your bookmark icons will disappear. to fix this, left click on the folders within the newly created bookmarks bar and click on Open All. Again it takes a while, but once done, KERRCHING Opera is back to the great browser it used to be in Opera 12.
I will never understand the reasoning behind Opera's decision to scrap bookmarks. Speed Dial is farcical when you have more than say 20 bookmarks!
