Update error v19 and v20

Hello,
Using Opera at work I get the message "An error occurred while checking for updates" in the about section. This occurred with v19 and the latest v20. It did not happen at home, so I can only assume this is an issue with the way it connects through the company network. The proxy settings are set to 'Automatically detect settings', and everything else works. Firefox does not have this issue with updating with the same settings.
As a side issue, I downloaded the latest v20 and installed manually. In the options dialogue it told me v19 would be updated, but when I look in the opera folder, I have two versions, each with ~100MB data in them. How come it didn't delete the old version?
Neil.

Just checked the windows 'programs and features'. I only have v20 in there. So do I just delete the v19 folder?

Opera always keeps the last version as a backup if anything goes wrong. That's why you'll always have two versions as soon as you updated it once.
edit: yes, you can safely delete it if you want to, but you'll have two versions again next time -

OK, well that explains the second issue, thanks. Any clues as to why I get the update error in the about page?

I've seen this error, too some time ago, but I can't tell what's causing it.
Anyone else?
