Bookmarks and extensions multiplying

I am really perplexed as my browser bookmarks keep multiplying. So i end up with 3 to 8 folders of the same thing, then multiply that by the number of folders i have is a lot.
I delete them and then have to go back and delete them again and again as they keep appearing out of nowhere. If you have loads of them they take ages to delete.
My other issue is an extension is also multiplying on my browser. So I clicked on this green puzzle icon [16 of them right now] and it shows up as http://addoncrop.com which I never put on my browser. I believe it came on my browser after installing YouTube Video Downloader which gave me nothing but popups so I decided to disable YouTube Video Downloader. Since then these icons multiply on my browser.
The funny thing is i don't use my bookmarks any more because i use FVD speed dial and their inbuilt bookmark so i can have them in a cloud online and syncing with my other browsers.
I just checked Google Chrome and it is doing the same thing, anyone know why this is happening please?

Turn off sync. A limited number of users are having problems with this and they are working on a fix.

I have the same issue, which is unfortunate because the same issue existed about over a year ago. It'd be nice to get even a permanent solution until they fix the root cause - something like an automated way to 'remove duplicates'!

Really? It was introduced in March with version 28. Thats 7 months. Try again buddy.
