Set homepage of my choice or just default browsers in Opera's list?

New to O as a browser. Trying it because I didn't want to use Chrome due to G's 'privacy' policies.

I'd like to remove the big G from my search options and start pages put my own choice of search engine.

Can anyone tell me how to do this?
