since short opera opens all links in a new tab.
Can I adjust that behaviour?
This started after I ran into a wander burst malware.
The malware is removed but opera still opens all links in a new tab. -

Its probably been damaged by the malware. Backup your bookmarks and such, uninstall Opera, Reinstall Opera.

Tell me what malware causes that behaviour, because I've been struggling to get Opera 31 to do just that.

The maleware was WanderBurst, which installed an extension app.
I was hoping that there is a setting in Opera that allows not only WanderBurst to change the way links are opened.
Unfortunately so far I have not been able to find the setting for this.
