I despise Google with a passion and wish to purge Google search tools from my Opera browser and replace them with StartPage, Ixquick, or DuckDuckGo, especially replacing the Google search bar on the Speed Dial page. I'd also like to make StartPage my default search tool, but Settings doesn't appear to accommodate this. If any of this is possible, please advise how to do it. Thanks

Opera has a primitive method of blocking malware from changing your search engines. It stores the search engines in a file called 'default_partner_content.json'. Currently the only way to change or remove the default engines is to edit that file in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera\Opera Version Number\resources' and replace them. Its a fiddly process and Opera replaces the Opera Version Number folder with each update so you will have to keep a copy of the file to add to that folder after the update. The dev team has started that they will eventually come up with a better system for this but its not a high priority atm.

I agree with Google - don't want to see it on the start page or anywhere else. Should have the option of the start page being exactly how one wants, not how the browser demand it should be.

You can remove google from the speed dial in the settings menu if you have power user mode enabled.
