Problem with copy and paste

I am running Windows 8, using Open Office and am experiencing a problem in that when I attempt to copy an item from Opera and paste it into Open Office Writer, in about 90% of the time I cannot paste the item. The paste command is missing in the drop down menu if I right click, and it is grayed out if I go into edit. If I attempt to copy the same item from I.E or Firefox it works perfectly.
Since I prefer using Opera as my default browser, rather than using one of the others, I would prefer to remedy the problem with Opera.
Is there a solution? -

How are you copying the item in Opera? Ctrl+C? Right click menu?
Are you able to post the content in other programs like Notepad?

I right click then copy from drop down menu. It appears to work OK with notepad, does this mean that the problem lies with Open Office?

Hard to say. I haven't used Open Office in years. Generally though, if it works with everything else, I'd suspect that Open Office is the cause. Does it do it in Lebre Office?
