      Hello *,

      I've found several automatic connections to Opera servers made by the browser (26.0.1656.60 on Windows 8.1) even though I've disabled all prediction/telemetry/crash report features under privacy tab in Opera settings.

      Nevertheless, the browser still opens connections to:

      1. sitecheck2.opera.com (malware protection for each URL. I'd like to disable it inside the browser, but it's not possible as far as I've read in this forum);
      2. autoupdate.opera.com (autoupdate, it's OK for me);
      3. af.opera.com (a completely unknown server for me).

      I've found connections to af.opera.com even in private windows, so I'm rather puzzled about its usage, security and privacy.

      Does anybody knows more about it?

      Thanks in advance for any reply.

        Do you have Opera Turbo turned on?

          AFAIK, I've not activated it.

          How can I check if it's activated in Opera 26?

            Click the O menu and look near the bottom. It will say Opera Turbo and it will have a check mark next to it on the left side.

              Thanks.

              I've checked and Opera Turbo is NOT activated.

              Currently, af.opera.com isn't contacted any longer. If it's the compression server for Opera Turbo, I'll monitor the connections because I really don't want such service, especially in private mode.
