Is there already in progress or development the ability to sync bookmarks from an Opera acct? This is incredibly useful in Chrome and probably the biggest drawback to Opera, which I find otherwise more user friendly and simple to navigate. Sorry if it's repeat question I did not see a related thread.

Yes, there already is a sync feature. Its currently in the testing release and can be enabled in the stable release with a flag IIRC. It only syncs bookmarks at the moment though. In 29 it has some extra features that were just added. The ability to see open tabs on other synced devices for one.
