Opera Next from version 27.0.xxxx.xx is TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED. It responds very slowly to my action. The worst thing is that it TOTALLY CRASHES VERY OFTEN. Although I am a big fan of Opera, I am thinking of switching to another browser.

I'm running the development release and its rock solid. Speedy too. Any problems you are having is related to your system only and is not a larger Opera problem. Have you check your system for malware recently?

Well, I don't know what to tell you. Most people here are using it without a problem. Without more information we can't speculate as to the cause. You haven't even posted the contents of your error messages or event viewer or anything. Its like going to a mechanic, without your car, and saying it doesn't work with no other description of the problem. Then when he asks for more info you tell him that its his job to figure out what the problem is and start acting all huffy with him about it. Its not a good way to get people to want to help you out, thats for sure.

Well, theres your problem. You're still using Windows XP. When was the last time you reinstalled your OS? While more modern versions of Windows don't need to be refreshed nearly as often I have found that Windows XP needs a fresh install every year or so to keep things stable. Back in the bad old says I was reinstalling Windows 98 and 95 almost every 10-12 months. The executable listed as the source of the crash, ntoskrnl.exe, is a Windows XP system file. Chances are you're just starting to tip into the long decline of your install. It doesn't help that Opera 27 is a fairly modern application. Windows XP is on the very tail end of its support list and honestly I don't think they should be supporting it at all. I really recommend you upgrade to Windows 7 at the very least. Windows 8 if you can manage it, as the system requirements are the same and it will have continued support for longer. If you don't like the look and feel of 8 VS 7, get a start menu replacement like Classic Shell. With Classic Shell I find most users can't even tell the difference between 8 and 7.

Okay, well you're clearly more of an expect than anyone else here willing to put up with you. Answer your own question.

That really is so typical of the kind of shite answer we have come to expect on here.

The days of Opera being a browser light on resources and easy to run on older systems really are over. Welcome to the world of: "If you haven't got bleedin edge hardware I can't even be bothered talking to you."

I too have not so far found the need to "refresh" Windows O/S, unless something has gone wrong with the hardware. AFAIK software doesn't rust.

I think your dump shows XP SP3, yes? Anyway, there is more discussion around this topic here:

Software may not rust but it becomes dated and problematic. Running on an ancient system like XP is simply asking for problems. That's a no-brainer. Opera 27 is rock solid on an updated system.

So maybe I was too harsh on lando242 🙂

                                Gee! It's good here, innit?

That's why I haven't been here for 2 years or so. Time to take another break, I think.
