Why Opera 27 is so slow loading the speeddial images for the icons ?
Icons appears near immediately (like one time)
only now before you see the corresponding images of each icon you must wait some time
      Why this happens ?
There is an option to speed this thing?
      Thanks
      K

You're not the only one with this problem, take a look at the link below.
It's a shame as it slightly spoils a lovely to use browser, one that I have been a fan of for many years!

Basically if you were using the experimental start page in the previous version you'd have much less icons to load (as some pages were represented with URLs) and their file size overall is smaller. Now you have (bigger in size) thumbnails for each and every page which weigh down more in the HDD load time.

The thumbnail file is 10 MB. There is absolutely no need to load the thumbnails one by one in about 20 seconds. Opera is in this state simply not usable. Please fix that ugly bug. (And no, I don't want to use new experimental alternative speed-dial)

We don't fix bugs here. We aren't the devs, just fellow users.

I think grimes2 only hope that an Opera developer occasionally read the post of this forum 😉

I agree that this process should be optimized, I think Opera is kind of slow when you first start it because of that.

I tried using the smaller thumbnails settings, working on your theory, as that made sense to me, but they are still slow to load. Unfortunately I could not detect any difference in the loading speed of the Speed-dail thumbnails in the "big Speed Dial thumbnails" settings or in the smaller thumbnails settings.

They're still saved in their original size in the disk they're just downscaled in the UI. 😕

I can confirm this issue. The tab is blank until completely loaded and that sometimes takes up to 15 seconds here. Opera is installed on an SSD and I have 24 entries on the speed-dial page.

I am glad you people noticed this problem, because I was beginning to think it was something on my system that was causing the slowdown in loading? ..... It definitely needs fixing!

Interesting. Is it possible to change the original size?

I can't confirm this and I'm on a HDD. You have something else.

I don't think so. HiDPI thumbnails flag is disabled by default already...
Perhaps it's just a badly optimized process in Opera.

I have not seen this problem - seems to load fast enough and I am using XP on a slowish machine
