Opera Mail basic default setups

I just started using Opera Mail and haven't found where I can set up the basic default font and zoom levels. I'm old enough that tiny Times font just doesn't do it for me.
I've found how I can set the font in each mail and I've found the little zoom slider on the lower right. Question is how to set these as defaults and how to make them stick?
Also I'd like to increase the font size of the entire mail list and have that stick as a default.
Without sounding too old fashioned, all of this was readily available in Outlook 10 years ago.
Any suggestions, Thanks!

Opera Mail is an unfinished product that isn't worked on anymore. It's Opera 12.16 with most of the browser settings hidden/removed so that you only see the email part. Unfortunately, when they did that, they also removed lots of settings that are used for mail.
To get back a lot of those settings, you can add back opera:config and access them that way since they're no longer in the preferences UI. But, also see https://forums.opera.com/post/63561.
To get the settings back and have them work, just use Opera 12.17 and use it just for mail. In Opera 12.17 under "alt + p -> advanced -> programs", set http and https (add them if they're not there) to open with the default browser. Or, if you want to use Opera Mail, you'll have to try the stuff above.
Also I'd like to increase the font size of the entire mail list and have that stick as a default.
I forget if you can do that. You can try changing all the fonts and find one that affects the list items. Look in the fonts section in opera:config too. Besides that, changing the fonts in appearance in Windows can affect some elements. "Selected Items" for example. however, not sure if there's a way to change unselected items. In short, Opera doesn't have a lot of font/color options for UI elements.
