So I'm trying really hard to like the new Opera. There's some good stuff there.
But once again something made Opera freeze, requiring me to kill it. When restarting Opera, was I presented with the 5 windows and 30 tabs I had found over the last couple of days while researching a topic? Of course not!
Yes I know you can save tabs in a speed dial folder. Which is 100% useless for this.

You're right, its not, thats why theres already extensions that add this functionality to Opera. It took the old version of Opera 18 years to build all the features it showcased. The current version, which was reprogrammed from scratch and shares zero code, is only 2 years old. Also, no developers frequent this forum. So all you are doing is making a snarky post to fellow users that are here to help others out of the kindness of their own hearts. Great way to start off the year.
But since I'm so nice I'll try and help you out. Type opera://history/ into your address bar. Hopefully that will help you dig up some of the links you lost.

That's not exactly correct... although they certainly haunt the development blogs more often, I've seen developers post within this forum any number of times. But what seems to get their attention best is a non-emotional, brief, clearly-stated title that coincides with a particular visiting developer's area of expertise... followed by a factual and complete description of the problem, in the post itself. This OP didn't even bother to list his Opera or OS version.
The more creatively "snarky" titles, such as in this thread, are almost certain to be passed over by a dev... they signal that such posters already have "attitude" that will almost certainly end up wasting the dev's time. Because at root and all too often, such posters primarily want to score self-satisfaction points by seeing how cleverly they can 'put down' Opera and its devs... and this is borne out by years of experience in observing such posts and the ensuing dialogues.

You're right, its not, thats why theres already extensions that add this functionality to Opera.
When searching I only found one, TabHamster, which does not work. It doesn't save the sessions correctly, so session comes up with zero tabs in most cases, and when it has some tabs saved it doesn't restore them correctly either, just restoring N blank tabs.
Though, this is basic stuff that should be in Opera itself. They have about 90% of the code there already, if not more.
Type opera://history/ into your address bar. Hopefully that will help you dig up some of the links you lost.

Opera version fair enough, clearly I'm on Opera Next otherwise I wouldn't be complaining about this, but to be specific 26.0.1656.60. But OS version... really? You saying they selectively showing some session related menu points based on Windows version? If so, which version of Windows has them?

When a page makes Opera repeatedly crash then Opera wipes the session, otherwise you'd be stuck in a crash loop forever.
If I was you I'd look for a session .bak file in the Opera user profile folder immediately after the crash. Now it must be gone forever already sorry...

Look, you're the one coming and asking for help... that means you don't have the answer. You don't yet know what's relevant information or not. In most situations, informing helpers of your software version and your OS are foundational for one's initial posting. Perhaps the OS turns out to be irrelevant to this particular problem, but in many cases, it may indeed matter. Older OS's are usually installed on older systems, ones possibly having RAM or CPU issues with the demands of a piece of software or OS-compatibility issues with that same software.

Yep, and I wouldn't be surprised to see programs start bugging in older systems like Windows XP as the development of updates goes on with the newer and vendor-supported versions in focus.

Never heard of it. I use Session Buddy. Not only can you save sessions manually but it also saves them periodically in case your stuff crashes. Install the "Download Chrome Extension" from the Opera addons site and then install Session Buddy from the Chrome store.
