      Version information
      Version
      12.17
      Build
      1863
      Platform
      Win32
      System
      Windows 7

Couldn't use opera at all yesterday!
I did manage to get on once but then the crash!
      Today .. crashing whenever!

It isn't the websites doing it because my other browsers aren't having any problems with the same sites/pages!

This is not an exactly new problem, it use to happen once in a while but until yesterday was a short lived problem.
I have never been able to find out why?

Just putting my problem out there to see if I'm the only one?

      MC

There are two fairly easy paths one can try with such problems. One is to turn off Opera, rename the operaprefs.ini file extension in the appropriate user account folder to something like operaprefs.bak, and then restart Opera. All the user custom settings will be gone (if any), but nevertheless try browsing with Opera for a sufficient time to see if the problem is cleared up. If it does fix things, manually apply any necessary custom settings with the new operaprefs.ini file in place. If it doesn't solve anything, turn off Opera again, delete the 'new' operaprefs.ini file and rename the operaprefs.bak file back to operaprefs.ini... this will at least recover your previous settings.

The other path is to clear out any prior, possibly-corrupted browsing and sessions history from the disk. With Opera off, navigate to the same user folder where the operaprefs file was and delete the vlink4.dat file; then navigate up into the "sessions" subfolder and delete the autosave.win file; next, restart Opera and delete its disk cache data (ctrl+F12 > Advanced > History > "Disk cache" - click on "Empty Now" > OK > restart Opera) and try browsing for a time.
