      Hi there

As Opera Mail1.0 1040 does not have a Master Password - yet! - is it safe to store it in a Kaspersky Encrypted Date Container?

This container encrypts files and folders on a virtual disk that requires a password to become accessible.

      Thanks for responding.

Opera Mail 1.0 is just Opera 12.16 with most of the browser parts (and lots of settings) hidden. It's just an experimental, unfinished product. So, you can just use Opera 12.16 for just mail. Just goto "Alt + P -> advanced -> programs" and add/set http and https to open in the default browser.

If you do want to use Opera Mail with a master password though, you can set Use Paranoid Mailpassword=1 under [Security Prefs] in operaprefs.ini while Opera Mail is closed. However, before you do that, you need to goto "alt + p -> advanced -> shortcuts -> Opera Standard -> edit -> application -> new" and create a shortcut.

        / ctrl Change masterpassword

Then, you can hit ctrl + / to set a master password. Then, close down Opera and set the operaprefs.ini setting. Or, after setting the master password, set the operaprefs.ini setting via opera:config (after you add it back in).

If that doesn't work right though (as in, Opera Mail doesn't prompt you correctly), just use Opera 12.16 just for mail.

        yet

Opera isn't working on Opera Mail (or Opera 12) anymore. So, it's very unlikely.

All of Opera Mail or just its password file? I don't know the answer to that. But, at any time, if Opera can't read one of its files, it could mess things up.
