Since version 132, sidebar panel zoom is locked at 100% and nothing reaches it.

Verified on Opera 135.0.5973.92, Linux Mint 22.3:

      • Per site zoom for the panel's own site has no effect on the panel.
      • Changing the default page zoom (tried 90% and 75%) has no effect on the panel.
      • Removing the panel and re-adding it has no effect.
      • On reload the panel shows the correct zoom for a split second, then snaps back to 100%.

The relevant change looks like RNA-1553 "Side panel reacts to default zoom setting" in the 132 changelog. In topic 89094 a moderator confirmed the lock is deliberate, and said the reason was that changing page zoom also affected sidebar zoom.

That fixed one complaint by removing something other people depend on. Anyone who needs a panel at around 80% now has no way to get there, and the panels are the reason a lot of us keep these apps in the sidebar instead of a tab.

Request: make it optional. Either a zoom control per panel (the panel's three dot menu is an obvious place for it), or one setting such as "sidebar panels follow page zoom", off by default. Off by default keeps the original complaint fixed and gives the feature back to everyone who wants it.

Existing reports: topic 88892 (Discord, since June) and topic 89094 (Slack, since July).

Personally, I don't mind the individual zooms per panel but I do mind that earlier the panels reacted on the default page zoom in Settings.

I had a similar complaint but regarding the 100%.
I usually set 125% default page zoom but the panels content (History/Bookmarks) is too large in this case (so the same complaint as yours but for 100%) what means more space consuming and more scrolling. 100% is ok for me now.

Yes, that would be a compromise.

I agree that making the sidebar zoom completely fixed at 100% is quite limiting. Different panels can have very different layouts, and 100% isn't always the most practical size, especially on smaller screens.

I think the optional approach suggested here makes the most sense. A per-panel zoom setting would give users the most control, while a simple “sidebar panels follow page zoom” option would also be a good compromise.

Keeping it disabled by default could preserve the behavior introduced in version 132, while still allowing users who relied on the previous zoom behavior to get it back.

Hopefully Opera will consider making sidebar panel zoom configurable rather than permanently locked to 100%.
