I don't know why this is happening, but whenever Opera GX is running nowadays my Windows key just doesn't work, which is a problem because I frequently use button combinations that include it. I've dug through the settings pages several times to try to find something that might explain it but so far I've found nothing. At first I thought something was wrong with my actual keyboard but eventually I found out that it's only a problem when Opera GX is running, so I'm pretty sure it's got something to do with that and I know that it didn't use to be like this, it only started being a problem I'd guess about a week ago or something (my memory is 100% worthless with stuff like this so I don't exactly remember how long it's been).

So yea, that's it, is this a problem that I can solve myself without having to switch browsers or am I just gonna have to hopelessly wait for Opera to do something about it and live without those aforementioned button combos until then?

You can disable everything at the URL opera://settings/gx_lights and restart Opera GX to see if it makes a difference.

You can disable the "Hardware Media Key Handling" flag at the URL opera://flags/#hardware-media-key-handling and restart Opera GX to see if it makes a difference.

You can disable your extensions at the URL opera://extensions one by one to see if one is the culprit.

You can goto the URL opera://settings/keyboardShortcuts, reset your keyboard shortcuts and restart Opera GX to see if it makes a difference.

Does a test standalone installation mess with the Windows key too?

@burnout426 I recently found out that it's unfortunately not just a problem when Opera GX is running, the windows key also refuses to work when it's off, both when it's just closed and when it's force-quit, so it's probably not related to the browser after all
