Open new tab next to active not working

I recently had to re-install Opera 12 in one computer. Now, I cannot get it to open a new tab next to the active tab. Re-use current tab is unchecked. Open new tab next to active is checked. I have three other computers running Opera 12 and they all work properly. I tried a new download and tried re-installing several time. All to no avail.
Any help?

Whoops. It only works if I click on a link on my Bookmarks toolbar. If I click on a link within an open web page, it does not work. I checked on another computer. On that computer if i click on a link within a web page, I get a new tab. So, I still have the problem.
