Profiles as default browser

There should be a way to make profiles as default browsers. I like opera and it has lots of good fetures but there is no way to set profiles as default browsers which I want so I can use opera for a school browser and personal use

@the-devil7 In your specific case, are you on Windows, and are you referring to Opera GX or regular Opera?

Sorry burnout426 idk how to reply to your message specifically but I use opera gx and the laptop has windows (it has the windows button)

Yes, it would be awesome if Opera supported setting a certain profile as the default. For now though, see this post for an advanced workaround.

Another workaround for now is to create a standalone installation to use for each extra profile you want and then use Method 2 on this page to add launcher.exe for the profile you want to the Windows registry so it can be set as the default browser. The tool is for a portable version of Firefox, but it works with Opera too. It'll just say "Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition" in Default apps. You can change that though by editing ApplicationName in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\StartMenuInternet\FirefoxPortable\Capabilities" in the registry if you want.

@burnout426 I already have the browser pinned but also I don't want to screw around with the settings as I'm not a technical guy, also it is technically the schools laptop so I don't want to screw around with it too much, so I'm just going to leave the suggestion and hope opera does something
