All my bookmarks are gone :'(

I just switched from windows 11 back to Windows 10. On windows 11, I had my sync on, signed in and everything. So when I got into my account on windows 10 and non of my bookmarks where thee and I was like "hmm let's see what's wrong" I checked and I had to put my passphrase. I forgot my passphrase but so I went to reset it. I had 800+ bookmarks... I clicked reset then the page said "You have no synced data". I am so confused. Are all my bookmarks just gone? I signed in on my phone a while ago but I can't find the bookmark tab. Can someone please tell me what is going on? Those bookmarks are very important to me.

Yes. They're gone (from the server at least). "reset passphrase" means "wipe out all sync data on server for the account". It says "reset passphrase" because when syncing, you have the option of encrypting with a custom passphrase instead of your Opera account. The "reset passphrase" text is supposed to be a description that covers both scenarios.

@burnout426 You can check other devices though for the bookmarks as wiping out your data on the server should leave them in the individual devices, hopefully.

@burnout426 Silly question on my part. You said you signed in, so it must be Android.

@souce The idea would be to just sign into Opera Sync in Opera so that your bookmarks are synced. But, don't do that until you back them up in some way first. Maybe an Android user knows how to do that. Or, I can check in Bluestacks in a little bit.

Testing in regular Opera on Android (in BlueStacks, not a real phoen), you can tap the person/profile/user icon at the bottom right of the toolbar in Opera and tap "Bookmarks" to see your bookmarks. If you're on a page that you want to bookmark, you can tap the 3 dots to the right of the address field, scroll down, and choose to add the site as a bookmark. There's also an option in that menu to add it as a speed dial to the start page instead. If you long-press on the 3 dots, you can change the shortcut icon next to the address field to be the add-as-bookmark or add-as-speed dial button. When doing that, quick-pressing the 3 dots will have the item you have set for the shortcut button missing from the menu.
Anyway, testing with Opera Sync in regular Opera on desktop and regular Opera on Android, with desktop Opera set to sync bookmarks, and Android Opera set to sync bookmarks and speed dials, syncing of Speed Dials works fine both ways (in that the other device's speed dials show in the "other speed dials" folder on both). But, for bookmarks, it looks like syncing is only one way. Bookmarks created in desktop Opera will sync to Android Opera, but not the other way around. Maybe that's just because of using Bluestacks and not a real phone. Not sure.
With that said, if you really have bookmarks on Android instead of speed dials, you might (if syncing of bookmarks from Android Opera to desktop Opera doesn't work) open all your bookmarks and add each as a speed dial to get them to sync to desktop Opera. I don't see a way to move/copy them from bookmarks to the start page in Android Opera to make that super fast. Then, on the
opera:/bookmarks
page in desktop Opera, you could select all the speed dials in the folder that shows Android Opera's speed dials, copy, and paste to desktop Opera's "other bookmarks" or "bookmarks bar" folder.I had mentioned that you should back up your bookmarks on Android Opera first before syncing just in case Sync does something weird and wipes them out. Well, I tried using multiple file manager apps on Android to access Opera's data files to see if there's a bookmarks file somewhere, but none of the apps showing all of an app's data files. Could be because of BlueStacks, but not sure. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMfCa2loTdc for the idea. Maybe it'll work on a real phone.
Another option, that you can try before syncing if you want, is to connect both Operas with My Flow to try and share your bookmark links to desktop Opera, where you can then open those links and bookmark them on desktop Opera.
