      Hi,

I've recently installed Opera on a new Win8 PC and am totally lost - no File / Edit .... menu bar, and no way, apparently, to get it back. I'm no techie, and am floundering.

What I'm trying to do is to stop a couple of spam sites which irritatingly, open up new tabs ('Your PC is running slow!!!' , ''Upadte your drivers automatically' ... etc).

I Google 'How to block websites' and am told to go to the File menu (Ha ha - no longer there' and choose setting > Preferences > Advanced. Fine, but although the drop-down menu from the big 'O' in the top left corner has 'settings', there is no 'preferences' option there, and when I search for 'preferences' in the help I'm told there's nothing there. (in fact most things for which I search aren't there. Most irritating, it echos whatever I type and asked whether that's what I really meant. So I search for ''1234abcd' and it comes back with 'Nothing for 1234abcd, did you mean 1234abcd'. Quite infuriating!!!

So, can anyone tell me how I can block the two (so far) offending sites (http://www.qtrax.com/updatedone and
http://www.reimageplus.com/lp/sys/?tracking=dale&banner=direct&adgroup=direct&ads_name=direct&keyword=direct ) from opening up new tabs while I'm browsing?

Thanks from a very frustrated user.

        Look in Settings, Webpages.

Or Download Opera 12.16 to get your menu bar back.

Hi Pesala, and many thanks for that.

I've gone to Settings > Websites > Pop-ups > Manage exceptions and added the two sites with action 'block'

But the 'Do not allow any sites to show pop-ups (recommended'' option is selected, so I'm not sure whether adding exceptions will make any difference.

          I may be back.......

          Cheers
