Youtube's HTML5 is bugging me

I am in no way subscribed to Youtube's HTML5 trial. I also use the latest 11.9 version of Flash player, on Opera 17, Windows 8.1 x64 (the problem started happening in 8.0)
Most of the time it's ok, videos play with Flash. But from time to time (rather frequently), for no apparent reason, HTML5 kicks in. And I can't set anything higher than 360p. Not to mention the HTML5 experience is not as smooth as with Flash.
Any ideas?

I think YouTube has started testing HTML5 more widely or something. That 360p thing is a Blink problem, although it probably stems from something like (broken) browser sniffing instead of object detection on YouTube's end.

Install the YouTube Center user script. You can set the preferred player, default playback quality, player size and more. See http://webapps.stackexchange.com/q/50615/3949
