I've tried everything to speed up Opera (68.0.3618.125) to no avail, it now takes about 15 minutes to reach full speed, FACEBOOK being a real problem, often I need to reload FB pages up to five times to get them displayed at full rendition (pixels are missing).
There is a solution, but I've forgotten how to do it. On a similar laptop (Windows 7/ 34 bit) it wouldn't connect to the internet. The error message that came up led me to changing settings in Windows that not only solved the problem but speeded it up so fast Start up now only takes a couple of seconds and the browser whizzes.
      Anyone help?
Please be descriptive I am no computer buff.

Goto the URL opera://settings/system, disable hardware acceleration and restart Opera to see if it helps. If not, enable it again.

Do a test. Download the Opera installer, launch it, click "options", set "install path" to a folder named "Opera Test" on your desktop, set "install for" to "standalone installation", uncheck "import data from default browser", and install. Test in that Opera, but do not enable Opera's VPN, do not install any extensions, and do not enable Opera Sync.

Does that Opera do the same thing? If so, temporarily create a new Windows user account, log into it, setup a standalone installation of Opera in it and test there. Any difference?

Are you on a laptop? If so, are you running on battery or power? If so, you might want to check your power options in Windows to make sure everything is set to run full speed etc. Also, in Opera, goto the URL opera://settings/batterySaver and disable the battery saver.

thanks for a very clear reply. I tried it in the Test mode and it did work faster, so will reinstall. Thanks again.
