Windows 10, recently updated to the "Windows 10 Creators Update"
      Opera 45.0.2552.881
After a recent resetart, opera would not start. executing launcher.exe and opera.exe doesn't do anything, the processes just exit before opening any windows. The same when I try to uninstall from the control panel.
These processes were all in Program Files(x86).
I tried reinstalling and it installed and ran successfully, but this time it installed in Program Files, not the (x86) version.
I could uninstall the second install but not the first.
I can also run the installer.exe in the opera 45.0.2552.881 directory, that produced a working Opera, but then I have two opera instances listed in the control panel programs list both the same .881 version. One uninstalls, the other will not.
I did not have any extensions installed other than the ones that come with the default install.

        Welcome to Opera's forums @Oakpaul!

Program files x86 or Program files depends on the Opera version, x86 (32 bits) or x64 (64 bits).

Did the new install restored your previous data?
If You need to recover your bookmarks or any other needed data, check the profile folder in %AppData%/Roaming.

        Check in the new install:
OMenu > Help > Find Solutions

Once you checked that (if needed), you can try with iObit uninstaller and cCleaner to uninstall and clean any traces of the broken installation.
(There are portable versions for both programs too)
