Workspace API

Hello,
I've noticed [1] that there should be some Workspace API available for addons/extensions. Could someone help me how to access it? I was not able to find any docs for such API.
Especially I'm interested in some listener telling me the workspace changed...

@Fiisha I think this would be a great feature and some extensions can be implemented very smooth when there is a workspace API description. If there is no API up to now, is there any workaround to get the Workspace from a specific tab?
