Can't access camera or microphone message on Google Duo on Opera

When trying to use Google Duo, I get the error message
"Something went wrong.
Duo for web can't access the camera or microphone"

I have given permission for both.
The following website can access the devices: https://webcammictest.com

I am running Opera 67.0.3575.97 on Windows 7. Restart didn't help.
On my Android phone, Duo works.

Any idea what the problem is, and how to get Duo working?

Google has begun rolling out the web version of its Google Duo video chat service.

I have the same problem. I can see and select the camera and microphone in Duo web settings, but when I go to make a video call on Duo I get the message "Something went wrong etc". The same happens for both Opera and Firefox on my Dell laptop with built in webcam (Windows 10 home). On the other hand Duo works without any problems for both Opera and Firefox on my desktop (Windows 10 professional). Firefox is preferable in that case because is transmits the complete camera view whereas Opera crops to image as if it was a phone-to-phone conversation.
