      I'm using Opera browser vers. 56.1.2780.51589 on Honor 9 phone (model stf-L09 build 9.1.0.210(C432E2R1P5patch02) emui 9.1.0 android 9).
      I have three browsers installed on the phone: Chrome, Edge, and Opera. I cannot set Opera as default browser: whenever I apparently set it in Settings-Apps-Default apps - Browser, the setting is not modified, and the Default browser is set to "Predefined" (that is chrome).
      However I can change the browser to Edge, and then back to chrome. Trying to uninstall Edge only was unsuccessful.
      The only way i found to set the default browser to Opera is by uninstalling edge, and disabling chrome, that seem to be the system browser. However this is not an acceptable solution, as I still want to use Edge (not as default) and even if i disabled the chrome app, it's re-enabled by the system after some time (and this is quite annoying, too).
      The problem persist if both Edge and Opera are installed and chrome is disabled.
      As far as i remember i had Opera set as default browser in the past.
      I'm pretty sure this is an EMUI problem and I will try to engage Huawei on this problem, too. Anyway maybe some user here has a solution, or at least can confirm the same problem.

        @astrobega

        UPDATE
        The same happens on my Huawei tablet which is different android and emui version.
        On my tablet i have more browsers installed including, among others, opera touch.
        Here i can set all the browsers as default, except opera mobile.
        Opera touch can be set as default browser, too.
