Same problems here on Mac Catalina. Also made a bug report because it's been driving me crazy.

Ugh. This is so annoying—the fact that this navigation annoyance has been a problem for more than a month and they don’t seem any closer to fixing it makes me really want to switch browsers.

For those who are interested:
I have just made a discovery (a workaround?). Normally, I've hidden the sidebar because I don't like the design with the upright buttons, but as a test, I've displayed the sidebar, and there you go: The "Skip to content”-messages have disappeared. Fingers crossed! -

@operaoperandi I tried the workaround, but it does not appear to have any effect in my own copies of the latest Opera, Opera Beta & Opera Developer. I'm still getting the "Skip to main content" box every single time on google search results.

Well, there seem to be several reasons for this error. Since I displayed the sidebar, I don't have any "Skip to main content" messages or buttons to press anymore. It works for me. I suppose you've probably already set Opera to its original state (restore). Maybe it's still useful to check the extensions.

I have this issues as well, no sidebar active.
Versions: 66.0.3515.44
OSX: 10.14.6PS. I took the effort to make an account with Opera to report this very annoying behaviour! Given lots of people are reporting, maybe someone at Opera should give a F*ck?!
PS2. I'm pretty sure I'm going to move away from Opera when this is not fixed soon -

If we are a minority that does not use the sidebar, it may take a long time for the bug to be fixed. The developers seem to have more important things to do...

If they want to throw away money by losing all the affiliate revenue they shove into their product by failing to fix an obvious issue—nearly two months after it was raised—that still shows up for me when I have my sidebar open, sure, go ahead. I'll tell everyone to use Vivaldi instead.

For what it's worth, this is still happening for me, regardless of whether or not the sidebar is enabled.

Some of us have already written a bug report. We can hardly do anything else at the moment, unless someone finds a solution by chance (and tells us about it).
