How to lower data volume while surfing the net?

My main Internetconnection does not work at the moment so i surf with my pc over my smartphones internet connection. How can i lower data volume while surfing with opera browser on my pc?
Steps which i already did:- Enable Opera Turbo
- advanced > privacy & scurity > content Setting > Images > do not show (does this really affect data transfer or does this just not show pictures while they still get downloaded? If not, how can i disable picture download?)
- Disabled all unneeded Extensions
- opera://flags: Opera Flags: Enable lazy image loading > on / Enable lazy frame loading > on
- Browser Extensions disabled
