Kill "My Folders"

It does not appear possible to create a bookmarks folder at the root level, but instead only in the "My Folders" folder. This doesn't do anything for me except create an extra and completely unnecessary step when searching for my own bookmarks: opening not just the Bookmarks menu, but then the My Folders menu.
Also, along similar lines and which I mention because this is where I think the pushback is going to come from judging by the design of the UI, bookmarks I choose to keep at the root level are not "unsorted". I really want them at the root level because thus they are faster to access. Same goes for custom folders.
So....please? Maybe? How about it?
