I am running into a frequent problem that may force me to abandon Opera. Gmail frequently (~2x/day) stops working because (1) it is "connecting" ad nauseum when I have a perfectly operative internet connection, or (2) I get locked our of my Gmail account ("Unusual Usage - Account Temporarily Locked Down").

When the problem is the connection, I can open a new tab and Gmail resumes to working properly. When I am locked out, I cannot access Gmail from Opera for hours, but can access it on my Android handset, other computers and even on the same computer using Chrome/Firefox/Edge.

I never encounter this problem when accessing Gmail in any other browser and it caused unacceptable interruptions to my workflow . I anybody has a solution, I would be grateful.

P.S. I have already tried clearing cache and cookies (multiple times) in Opera and disabling all extensions. The problem still occurs.

When using gmail, you might need to disable vpn. The reason is that it shows you as being in a location far removed from your usual location. In my case, it caused google servers to generate an alert because the vpn was seen as coming from kyiv, ua.

@s390g2 Thanks for your suggestion but I did not have VPN (Opera's or any other) activated.
