Opera Mail M2 Syncing

When running old Opera Mail M2 1044 on a PC and laptop, how to sync content between them? For example, I sorted all unneeded messages to Trash folder on a PC, and then Empty Trash. They were also presumably deleted in mail servers accounts like Gmail via IMAP. But on laptop they are still present in Opera Mail M2 original Inboxes for each mail acc.
Why they are not auto deleted via IMAP sync on laptop, despite deleted on PC? How to sync mail content on PC and laptop, preferably without using 3rd party sync servers? Ideally, I wouldn't want to delete "mail" folder and re-download all messages on laptop after each mail cleanup on PC. Why the sync doesn't work as it presumably should - how to troubleshoot? All accs are listed as IMAP in Opera Mail Accounts on both PC and laptop.

It should just work as long as you're moving the messages to [Gmail]/Trash" (or [Googlemail/bin] or whatever it is outside the U.S.) and then right-clicking in the mail panel and choosing "Empty Trash" (or selecting all messages in [Gmail]/Trash] and hitting shift + del on the selection).
Are you using low-bandwidth mode in any of the installs of M2?
At https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#settings/fwdandpop, make sure you have "Auto-Expunge on - Immediately update the server. (default)", "Archive the message (default)" and "Do not limit the number of messages in an IMAP folder (default)" set.
On the laptop that still has the messages, are they blank? If so, try checking the database. Or, that m2 mail folder could just be messed up.
Make sure you have your trash folder set properly on the IMAP tab in the account's properties.
It should just work unless you tried to delete too many messages at once where the IMAP connection times out on you. A log when doing a huge delete again might show that. Gmail's IMAP servers are a little touchy when deleting a lot of messages via a client. Doing that at mail.google.com may yield better results.

Unfortunately it doesn't "just work". Yes, I've several mail accs, and most are set in M2 to Low-bandwidth mode, if it makes any difference?
I cleanup M2 periodically and usually delete 1-3K messages, but on the PC it completes OK without problems. If Gmail IMAP were to time out, I assume it would affect the PC M2 mail folder content.
What do you mean under "set Trash folder properly"? Should it be ticked On for each acc on both PC and laptop M2? I empty trash in All Messages panel, so my assumption is showing Trash folders in each individual acc should not matter - correct?
Yes, the messages deleted on PC show blank content on the laptop, but the messages not yet deleted on PC can be downloaded from the mail server to laptop M2, and show content.
Will try DB cleanup and see if it helps. Otherwise I'd need to delete laptop mail folder and redownload all messages again?

Did the DB Cleanup, and it fixed nothing, showing no problems in the Log. Had to delete everything DB related from Local and Roaming M2 folders except accounts.ini, wand.dat and some extra files. Restarted M2, and it re-fetched all messages.
Will see if it works now. What's the right procedure to delete and re-load mail db? I don't want to load Gmail All Mail folders, as they hold all deleted mail too. But they are autoselected at Opera launch after the above folders cleanup. In what files that folders choice is stored?
I had to reinstall M2 completely to keep the right folder choice for each mail acc.

That can mess with (limit) syncing. Definitely don't use it.

On the "IMAP" tab in each account's properties, make sure the correct IMAP folder on the server is set as the trash folder. This should happening automatically, but double-check.

Correct, as long have right-click in mail paenl -> "show messages from" set to all accounts and have trash folders set on the IMAP tab in each account's properties.

That indicates database corruption. Simple corrupted can be fixed with the database check. But, if it doesn't help, you have to start over.

Yes. That's how you fix the database. You start with a new mail folder and set up everything fresh. More specifically, you should export your contacts, close down Opera, delete the mail folder, delete contacts.adr, wand.dat and opcert6.dat in the profile folder, start Opera, set up all your IMAP accounts and import your contacts again. That's the proper way to do it.

Yes. That's because of the way Gmail IMAP works. You're just supposed to ignore that. Also, dragging to the [Gmail]/All Mail folder works as archiving. But, if you want, you can goto "Menu -> Mail -> IMAP folders" and unsubscribe. Better yet, goto the mail.google.com settings and choose not to show "all mail" in IMAP. Do that before you set up the IMAP accounts in Opera.

Note that for Gmail IMAP specifically, it's best to hide (or at least move them to the bottom of the mail panel and collapse them) all of the unified access points (like "All Mail", "Labels", "Mailing Lists" and "Attachments" etc.). Then, you drag each IMAP account access point to the top of the mail panel (in the order you want) and use just the IMAP folder views for each account separately like you would in a traditional IMAP client. You focus on "Inbox", [Gmail]/Sent Mail, [Gmail]/Trash etc. and your IMAP folders representing your Gmail labels etc. where you don't usually look at [Gmail]/All Mail. You don't have to do it that way, but it's just a lot nicer with Gmail IMAP.

In addition, Opera Mail works best when you don't use "low-bandwidth mode", don't use "do not download attachments" and you set "make all messages available offline". Without that configuration, searching is limited.
Also, do not use shift + del outside of [Gmail]/Trash for an account, it can cause database corruption.
Also, while you can archive messages by dragging to [Gmail]/All Mail, note that this can leave ghost entries for messages in [Gmail]/All Mail (of the duplicates from the label from where you were archiving).

Closing down Opera and deleting autosave.win in the sessions folder in the preferences folder should fix issues with Opera Mail not remembering windows size and such.
