      how do i migrate my opera 12.x mail settings and mails to the new mail client for opera 20 ?
      i tried it using the migration button in the mail-setup but i seem to be unable to find any "accounts.ini" file in my
      old opera folder or anywhere else on my pc.

        Make sure you're not using a master password. As in, uncheck "Use Master Password to protect saved Passwords" under "alt + p -> advanced -> security", Ok out, close Opera.

        Then (assuming windows Vista or newer with Opera installed to "C:\Program Files\Opera" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera"):

        Do these moves (replace existing files/folders in Opera Mail profile if they're there. Better to delete them first instead though):

        • "C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera\wand.dat" -> "C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Opera Mail\Opera Mail"

        • "C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera\contacts.adr" -> "C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Opera Mail\Opera Mail"

        • "C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera\operaprefs.ini" -> "C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Opera Mail\Opera Mail"

        • "C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Opera\Opera\mail" -> "C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Opera Mail\Opera Mail".

        Before you move operaprefs.ini though, you'll want to open it in a text editor and edit it. Make sure the "Mail Root Directory" line isn't under the "Mail" section. Make sure "Use Paranoid Mailpassword" isn't present in the "Security" section. Make sure that any lines with paths under the "User Prefs" section are removed so that Opera Mail uses the default.

        Then, you should be good.

        Note though that if, Opera is installed to the default location and it's set as the default browser, when you start Opera Mail for the first time, Opera Mail will have a new import option that allows you to import settings and everything from Opera. It doesn't ask you for a location or anything. It just looks in the default Opera location. This import option though just moves things over like above. So, it's just as easy to do it manually.

        If you already tried to import into Opera Mail and want to try again with the new import wizard, delete Opera Mail's mail folder and start it back up.

        In Windows Explorer, press the alt key to bring up the menu bar. Then, goto tools -> folder options -> view" and select "show hidden files and folder". Also, uncheck "hide extensions for known file types". That will make it easier to get to the profile folders and get the right files. On Win8, these settings will be on on the windows explorer toolbar.

            That's a non-multi-user install that's not really recommended for installation in the program files folder. In this case, the local and roaming profile folder files and folders are all mixed together in the "profile" folder. So, you just have to copy the files and folders to the proper spot in the local and roaming profile folders for Opera Mail.
