Opera Mail crashes on startup after adding new account

I have encountered this issue before - if I use the incorrect authentication details when I add a new account then Opera crashes and always crashes when opening. I do not have enough time to delete the new account before it crashes.
I got around this last time by deleting everything (Opera mail is hard to delete!) and starting again. I've been using it for a month before trying to add a new account today.
Honestly I'm trying to move away from Outlook and was hoping I had found my new mail client - this is so dissapointing.
I think I can remove the account from the accounts.ini file but I can't find the location because Opera crashes before I have the time to go to Help -> About.
Can you give me your best guesses as to where the file would be?
And any idea why Opera crashes like this? I have sent the error reports last month but heard nothing back (not that I was expecting to).
Thanks in advance,

I've found the .ini file....I was able to manually delete the offending account from the file and it now starts up.
Now to find out why Opera Mail crashes like this when I choose the wrong credentials...

Could you expand on this? When you type in the wrong username and or password? Or, when you choose a different authentication method besides the default of "auto"? Or, wrong server? If you get everything right, it doesn't crash?
Is this an IMAP or POP account?

This is an imap account. It first happened when I had Secure connection (TLS) unchecked for incoming and outgoing and chose AUTH PLAIN as the method. As soon as Opera Mail tried to sync the app crashed.
On setting it up this time I have checked the TLS boxes and it now works fine.

Glad that it works that way and you know how to avoid the crash. As for the crash, there's nothing we can do since Opera Mail was discontinued years ago.

@burnout426 Ha, I had no idea it was discontinued. Maybe my choice of email client wasn't a smart one. Thanks for your help.

Not only has it been discontinued, it was never completed. Opera Mail is an attempt at converting the Opera 12 browser suite (that has Opera Mail built into it) for mail-only use. It's just Opera 12 with some browser stuff hidden. Problem is, Opera Mail is buggy and missing a bunch of settings.

@dingobingo I use Thunderbird, which should be fine as an Outlook alternative depending on how much business features of Outlook you rely on.
