I'm using v45 and still having the same problem. I know "doesn't work" isn't a very useful bug report, so here are some more details. When I click the VPN slidebar, it turns orange and says "Connecting..." It stays that way indefinitely, never turning blue. The only way I can seem to get it to work is to close all Opera windows, then restart my computer. When the computer reboots, I have to open the browser and turn on the VPN very quickly. If I wait a few minutes before opening the browser and trying to turn on the VPN, it never connects.
If I sleep or hibernate the computer, I am unable to reconnect the VPN after it wakes up. I have to close everything and reboot again. I tried disabling Windows firewall to ensure it wasn't the problem; no effect.
Windows7 Ultimate, Dell Latitude E6520, 8GB RAM
AVG free version (no firewall), Iobit Malware Fighter, Spybot S&DHope this gives you enough info to reproduce. I'm sure some of the other folks above are experiencing this problem (and no doubt others who don't know how to use discussion groups!)
Thank you so much for including a free VPN in your browser. This has gotten me to abandon my other browsers in favor of yours. Now we just need to iron out a few of the inevitable kinks!

I had faced the same problem when I was a user of free VPN but now I am using paid and reliable VPN.
I am using Express VPN for my PC as well as for my mobile phone it connects automatically.
I completely satisfied with Express VPN.Buddy my suggestion is that if you are using free VPN then the
change of VPN is the solution of your problem.Check out the list of best VPN services in 2017

Before choosing any VPN first read about that VPN.We all know that, a paid VPN are always better and I know a lot of them, to suggest them.

Having the same issue with v.45 on a Mac. It's been working intermittently since v.45, but presently won't connect to any of the locations even after quitting and relaunching Opera.
