      Hello *,

      I've Opera Portable installed on some USB sticks, but I've some issues:

      1. if I don't start at least 1 time Opera Portable before inserting the USB stick in other PCs, Opera imports the bookmarks from the default browser of those PCs. If this happens with PCs I don't own, the owners can think I'm breaching their privacy or "stealing" their bookmarks. I've experienced such an accusation the first time I saw this behavior;

      2. Opera Portable writes autoupdate.download.lock and autoupdate.metrics.lock files (plus some etilqs files) to the TEMP folder of PCs where the USB stick is inserted and it doesn't delete those files when the USB stick is removed. If those PCs have a previous version of Opera Desktop installed, they become confuse about which version is installed, don't upgrade and, in at least one case, Opera Desktop wasn't able to start.

      Any suggestion?

        1:
        This option can be avoided unchecking the "Import bookmarks..." in the installation steps.

        2:
        Despite I don't have an answer for that, you may try with Opera Portable from PortableApps (until some fix / workaround will be explained), this kind of behavior is avoided so they are PortableApps.

          Doh! I didn't think to that for Portable!

          I've just downloaded it and I'll try it. I hope it will be a real self-containing installation.

            Well, even Opera Portable from PortableApps creates and doesn't delete those files I've mentioned above, however it writes them in a OperaPortable folder inside Windows TEMP folders. It should be enough not to interfere with Opera Desktop.

            Better than nothing.

              Maybe there is some info in OHelp files.

              O.O Didn't know that, despite I've use USB versions from both, Opera and PortableApps and had no problems but didn't check traces on the computers since every file should be deleted from them, at least in every PortableApp.

              I'll check it.
