Streaming video ramps up cpu very high

I have just today decided to switch over from firefox to opera.. the world is a lot faster all of a sudden hopefully with less of the prying eyes that chrome offers.
However there is one issue, whenever i play a video on the web, be it via facebook, vimeo or youtube the cpu on my machine ramps up to 20-25%.
Although firefox runs JS sites with massive lag.. streaming videos was great and the fans on my laptop would not kick in. CPU would be way down.. under 10%.
Is there a setting i can apply to reduce the cpu usage when streaming?
Cheers

sounds to me like it's not making use of GPU acceleration for video decode but rather using the CPU only does your laptop have an discrete GPU

Opera taking too much CPU usage when stream video. When CPU usage goes high your laptop fan will turn on consistent.
Is there anyway OPERA Team can fix this issue?
