Opera Mail sync to Fastmail

Hi all, after using Opera mail for years and years before I've been using Thunderbird lately but want to go back to Opera.
I'm running into one problem that I've not been able to solve: in Fastmail (my emailhost) there's the possibility to archive messages. Doing so moves the message to a seperate map called "archive" as expected. The problem is that the Opera desktop client doesn't follow that or, in other words, I haven't found a way to sync the "archiving" I do on f.i. my Ipad (which works fine) with the Opera Mail on my desktop.
The IMAP folder in the Opera main menu shows that I'm signed in to "inbox.archive" but I can't find a way to approach this archive from the desktop.
If I archive a message via the Ipad the little icon in front of the messagetitle on the desktop goes to "empty message" and load entire message doesn't work.I hope I've written this down so it's understandable
Am I just out of luck or is there a workaround for this ?

In Opera Mail, in the mail panel, under the user@fastmail.fm IMAP account access point, you'll find your IMAP folders. Expand INBOX to see the Archive folder. Click on "Archive" to load its message list to see your archived messages.
To archive a message in Opera Mail, drag it from IMAP folder it's in (INBOX for example) to the "Archive" IMAP folder. You can drag the message from one of the "All Messages" views to the "Archive" IMAP folder instead if you wish. Either way will work.
Archiving via fastmail.fm should be reflected no problem in Opera Mail. Archiving in Opera Mail should be reflected at fastmail.fm no problem. If that's not working for you, do a test. Download Opera Mail, launch the installer, click "options", set "install path" to a folder on your desktop, set "install for" to "Standalone Installation (USB)" and install. In that folder load operamail.exe. Once loaded, cancel the import dialog and then choose to add your fastmail IMAP account. Let that Opera Mail fetch headers for all your messages. Then, test things and see if things work fine there. If they do, there's something corrupted with your regular Opera Mail.
Fastmail IMAP is made to be used with and tested with Opera Mail, so there shouldn't be any problems.

Yep, that worked; I only had the "all messages" view activated. Which leads me to the next issue:

The dragging works, but in the all messages view the archived message remains visible. Any solution for that ?
There's no way to add the combined archives (I have 2 emailadresses linked to the Fastmail and thus Opera mail) to the all messages panel is there ?

You can create a label under the Labels access point named "Archived". Then, right-click on the label and goto "properties". On the "options" tab, check "hide these messages from other views". Then, click the "settings for this view" icon on the toolbar above the message list for the Archive IMAP folder (not the label) and check "hidden" under show.
Then, for any archived message that's shown in "All Messages", just drag it to the "Archived" label to hide it. The trouble with this method is it's extra work.
The alternative way (that will be automatic) is to close down Opera and edit index.ini in the mail folder. See "Menu -> Help -> about Opera Mail" for the location.
In index.ini, you need to find the index for the archive folder for each IMAP account. Look for name=archive and search text=Inbox.archive. What you want to do is set Flags= to 263. It'll probably be 259 by default. What this will do is set "hide these messages from other views" for your two archive IMAP folders so that messages in them don't show in "All Messages".

Correct. There's no way. But, if you do the Archive label way above, archived messages from both accounts will show in that archive label.

If Opera Mail is closed, you should be able to do it with a text editor no problem. You said you're not able to? Do you mean that when you start Opera Mail back up it reverts to 259? It shouldn't. Or, did you just mean you don't feel comfortable doing it yet?

Indeed. But, in this particular case, it's harmless to change those two flags. If you ever needed, you could always close down Opera Mail and change them back. You can even copy index.ini to another place before you modify it so that you have a back up.

Haha, both actually. Turns out I had opened that file in my browser and aparently that doesn't allow changes to be made. When I approached the file directly there was no problem changing 259 into 263 so now it works as you predicted. Awesome !
