We have whatsapp, Facebook Messenger and telegram on the sidebar which are basically their web-versions.
Opera could easily add https://web.skype.com/ to the sidebar. It would make the annoying and buggy Skype client unnecessary.
The problem would be a branding issue and not one of a technical nature.
