This has the very unfortunate flaw of not allowing the user to choose what key(s) must be pressed to remove something. Try selecting a body of text, using Shift to go to the end - oops, your text disappears and no undo is available. Regular Undo doesn't work.
The Shift key was a very poor choice as it is constantly used in selection text.
