I was looking for this option too. Workspaces makes so much sense to use for me. The only thing that would improve this feature even further would be to have each workspace work independently. I have services that require me to login to the same mainsite with different logins, workspaces would solve this in a better way than running each login in a private session.

Maybe a comming feature in the future?

The purpose of workspaces is to keep "categories of tabs" within the same profile.
The purpose of user profiles would be to allow different logins/history/favorites/etc... in order to easily separate home from work. Which is also immensely useful for web development in Chrome.

Depends on how you define workspaces, to me it would make sense to have each workspace work as a "independent profile" When moving tabs to different workspace you would use the login details of the new workspace.
