@leocg I don't know about other places. It isn't at all clear in Opera's instructions how it works. It just asks if you want to do it. So if I say yes, what then? Do I use my Google credentials to log into Opera?

What's the advantage of that?

Opera offers the option of connecting one’s Opera account with those of Facebook and Google and Apple. What I can’t find anywhere is an explanation of why anyone would do that. What is the benefit? How does it work? Does it mean that, when I sign into Opera, I’m signed into the other accounts or vice versa? I’m not suggesting it’s a bad thing to do this; I just don’t see the point, and I can’t find an explanation.

So, what’s the point?
