OK might have found a solution. On another device, downloaded the .apk from opera.com and emailed to my mother. Unfortunately, tried install but couldn't get cursor to go to the terms and conditions agree button 
Don't think that is an opera problem... tried 2 versions - most up to date one wouldn't parse, so asume android version is too old for it.
