I called support directly earlier today, and the kind lady on the other end of the phone told me that while she was not entirely certain of what the cause was, she did say that at the time, there were a handful of hacker reports coming in from the US about Stateside Amazon customers, and that theoretically, the site should be fine in the next 24-ish hours. Be that as it may, I still think it's an Opera issue as like with your experience, Amazon works perfectly fine on all other browsers, even mobile.
