As a test, if Opera is your default browser, set a different browser as your default browser on your system (you can still user Opera ) to see if the other browser starts saying hi now and then. If so, then you at least know that it's some other program (Steam is often the culprit) that's launching the default browser on your system for some reason and not specifically Opera.
