Well, I'll keep this simple. Enough other threads already exist that touch on each feature we Opera users have lost from Opera 12. Suffice it to say, Opera 15 is an UTTER DISASTER. The primary reason I LOVED opera from version 6 through version 12 was the feature set. Opera had it all, literally. They usually had it first. The features were excellent, well implemented, USEFUL, and there were TONS OF THEM.
Opera 15? It is a complete and total castration of EVERYTHING that made Opera a wonderful browser. I was looking forward to the use of a compatible rendering engine...but NOT AT THE COST OF EVERYTHING ELSE!!! What in the world is this??
I've lost just about every single feature I enjoyed about Opera. The new version feels like Chrome, which is utterly limited in every way, a royal pain in the ass to use, and an unpleasant experience in more cases than not. Opera 15...or, Chrome Lite, and just as much a useless pain in the rear end.
I'm gravely disappointed. I do not like Opera 15. I miss my extensive feature set and wonderful, personalizable functionality. To put that in clearer terms: I LOVE WINDOWS 8, it's wonderful, easy to use, still does everything my old Windows 7 did, and does MOAR! (yes, the OS everyone else sees to hate)! Opera 15 is the true disaster, and seems to actually be what everyone is incorrectly claiming Windows 8 is: a castration of an extensive and thoroughly used feature set.
I much preferred Opera 12, not because it rendered every web page I visited properly (it didn't)...but because it made browsing the web a pleasant experience. I can get used to stash in place of no regular bookmarks. But I cannot get used to the loss of dozens of features nor the inability to configure my browsing experience the way I WANT IT TO BE (i.e. why the hell can't I change the Speed Dial search engine? I HATE GOOGLE! GIVE ME BING!!)
Well, enough said. Sad, sad, sad, SAD DAY! I truly hope this does not mark the end of the wonderful Opera era...what a sad release. I miss my features and personalization.
