@leocg
Yes, I know, as I know also that you are not the cause of not being able to solve it; as I surely do appreciate your assistance in trying to do it.
Anyhow, it's a pity that there is no-one of Opera itself who can take up this item: it is clear that there is something wrong in the system between what is saved and what can be accessed through synchronisation, and that is or a bug or a malfunction that the IT services should have a look at.

@leocg
Now, one week later the situation stays the same: the passwords that were there, or that I added, are updated, but the old ones are not recovered, so I suppose they are lost..
I hope you understand this does not inspire big confidence in your system: it is clear that, as your own system says, the passwords are there, but I cannot have access to it, so for me it is as if they are lost... Should I think of leaving Opera, as a not really reliable system? -
RE: Opera sync not workingGeneral
@leocg
there I find only the 24 passwords it has synchronised now, but none of the others... On "Modification time" of these passwords none is from 2024... So every passwords before 01.01.2025 is not listed, and not synchronised... -
RE: Opera sync not workingGeneral
@leocg
Well, for a part of it that can be true: 260 passwords looks indeed rather a lot; but anyhow, the same password for opera-account is used since more than 2 years, I guess, so there were more than 24 passwords anyhow...
In a last list of passwords I have been able to dig up (printed list from my opera-account, as far as I can see), of about 3 years ago, there were already 66... So perhaps you`re right, that in those 260 records there are passwords doubled, or even tripled?. However, if there were three years ago already 66, I reckon there were certainly more than 80 passwords now memorised, which apparently your system cannot recover, nor access? - General

@leocg
I've tried it again (erasing content and logging in afterwards), and now everything is running on the panel of opera://sync-internals, but with the same result as before: only 24 passwords are stated to be synchronised, whilst on the website https://www.sync.opera.com is still stated, correctly, that there are 260 to be synchronised... -
RE: Opera sync not workingGeneral
@leocg
Now, 6 hours after having deleted content of Sync Data folder the system does not run synchronisation, except for the three former items that are running on synchronisation, the other ones (passwords, bookmarks, etc) keep on stating 0, and not running...
I suppose I will have to put the content of the folder back in order to get it working again? -
RE: Opera sync not workingGeneral
@leocg
on your latest reply: no, only the password was asked for, not the passphrase (which was never set up).
on your former remark: sorry, I did understand it wrong; now I did what you asked, removing the content of the Sync Data folder. I will update what happens next (until now nothing important: only the three items I mentioned before (device info, user consents and security events) are running) -
RE: Opera sync not workingGeneral
@leocg
bow everything is in green "Running" in the panel, but states 398 Bookmarks (so rather close to the 401 mentioned on your server, but not all of them, apparently), and, now, 24 passwords and not the 260 that are on your server...
The bookmarks are being put on my opera now (so, it is working there), but on the password chapter, only 21 are being put there... The other 239 passwords keep on being on your server, but missing in my opera account... -
RE: Opera sync not workingGeneral
@leocg I am now doing the test you proposed: removed all the bookmarks and all the passwords that were on opera, and logged in.
Now server-information says there are 401 bookmarks to be synchronised, and 260 passwords... But the panel on "opera://sync-internals" only is green for device info, user consents and security events ("Running"), but all the other items are still marked as "Not Running"... I will update you if there are changes, but panel keeps on mentioning (15 min. later) only these three items as running -
RE: Opera sync not workingGeneral
@leocg
as far as I can see, yes: the Bookmarks I could recover them from a former install on another PC, but passwords were not there neither
After 4 days the situation keeps on being the same: website/server says there are 259 passwords saved on your server ti be synchronised, but your synchronisation tool keeps on reporting only 23, so apparently does not "see" the other 223 passwords on your server, which I lost... -
RE: Opera sync not workingGeneral
@leocg So that means that, trusting your application, I now lost all my passwords, and you give me no solution to recover them...

RE: Opera sync not workingGeneral
@leocg
Three days later the result is still the same: opera://sync-internals keeps on telling me that there are only 23 passwords to be synchronised, and the web https://www.sync.opera.com/ keeps on stating the correct info, that there are 259 passwords to be symchronised... So there is clearly a problem with the connection on your server, since the whole package pf passwords seems not to be seen, and therefore not synchronised...
I have the impression that there is no solution you will offer us, so we should shift to another browser, I suppose, that does do correct synchronisation... -
RE: Opera sync not workingGeneral
@leocg
sorry, but it does not working ·as it should"; see the explanation in my reply of about 2 hours ago: the data of what is supposed to be synchronized are not correct, so only 17 of 259 passwords saved on your server are synchronized, and nothing else, and in the opera://sync-internals dialog it only mentions 23 passwords to be synchronized, and not the 259 that are on your server (and it does not even synchronize the 23, but only 17 of them), so no, although it is green, it is not doing a synchronization of the server data... -
RE: Opera sync not workingGeneral
@leocg
correction on former reply: no, the 23 passwords are not synchronized neither: only 17 of them are... -
RE: Opera sync not workingGeneral
@leocg
the board is green, and it states that it is running, but data are not correct: f.i. on bookmarks it says that there are 311 to be synchronized, but in the general board online ("Your synchronized content" on the web https://www.sync.opera.com) it states that there are 330... (which is correct). Worse for the passwords: on the board it says there are only 23 passwords to be synchronized, but the real number (i.e., also stated on the web) is 259...
Those 23 passwords are synchronized, but the rest that is on the web (the other 236) are not...
So, the item is to get those 236 on the board too... (those other 29 bookmarks I could retrieve from my PC, but the passwords not, of course). Alternative solution would be to be able to download in csv the passwords directly from the website https://www.sync.opera.com directñy, but I ignore if there is a way to do that... -
RE: Opera sync not workingGeneral
@leocg
Yes, indeed, I can, without any problem... It really shows as if everything is working, but it just does not... -
RE: Opera sync not workingGeneral
No error message: as if it is entering, 'cause it says that I've logged in, and shows the message of Welcome, and "Here is what you can do with your Opera account", etc.

Opera sync not workingGeneral
OS Ubuntu 22.04 - Opera 115.0.5322.119
Sync is not working after new install from snap
opera://sync-internals says:<< Encryption Explicit Passphrase false Passphrase Required false Cryptographer Ready To Encrypt true Cryptographer Has Pending Keys false Encrypted Types Passwords Has Keystore Key true Keystore Migration Time Not Migrated Passphrase Type PassphraseType::kImplicitPassphrase Explicit passphrase Time n/a Trusted Vault Migration Time Uninitialized Trusted Vault Version/Epoch 0 Trusted Vault Auto Upgrade Group Uninitialized >> << Status from Last Completed Session Sync Source Uninitialized GetKey Step Failed false Download Step Result Success Commit Step Result Success >>
Thing is that I did not put Passphrase...
How can I make this working again?
