Can't save passwords

Version: 42.0.2393.94 - Opera is up to date
Update stream: Stable
System: Linux Mint 18.1 (x86_64; X-Cinnamon)

I am using opera, and have "offer to save passwords" activated in the settings, however passwords are not saved. Can anyone help?
