I had to do a factory reset on the phone where the authenticator app registered with Opera was installed on. I reinstalled the authenticator app, and since it was linked to my email, I thought I could just re-login to the authenticator app and it will recover the accounts from the linked email. Unfortunately, that wasn't case as the app came up with no accounts, even though I had the backup option of the authenticator on.
So now, I can't login to Opera (Android) as I have 2FA setup and my authenticator there has no record of my Opera account. I tried linking Opera Android to the one installed on my laptop, where I am still currently logged in, but everything's all topsy-turvy.
Here's what I've done (multiple times, at that):
-
From the laptop browser, I open opera.com/connect, which displays the QR code.
-
From the Android browser, I login, but with no access to the authenticator app, I can't input the verification code.
-
As I didn't generate any backup code, I have no other choice but to exit the login screen.
I tried to change my account settings by disabling 2FA, but guess what. It needs the verification code from the authenticator or from a backup, both of which I don't have.
How can this be remedied?
TIA
