It's interesting that narowing the width and changing back to default view mode will change the page scale. Perhaps Opera Mobile with Firebug can give you a hint but I can only guess that some changes on server side should be taken into account. Few weeks ago some pop-ups doesn't fit under page header size and now it does with the same width (on workable sites), that's the only thing I can think of as a difference.
